Welcome to
Ridgeway Restorative Counselling
About me and my therapy practice
A very warm welcome, firstly. I'm Gaynor and I'm an integrative pyschotherapist based in the Ridgeway area of Newport. I work from a person-centred approach at my core, which means I will actively listen to you and any concerns you may want to bring to counselling. I work with several different modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
I offer clients a safe space to discuss whatever is making them feel 'stuck' in a confidential, non-judgemental and empathetic environment.
Life seems to have become increasingly challenging for many people since recent global events which have caused ripple effects in our daily lives, creating issues around bereavement, relationships, finances and emotional well-being to name just a few.
I'm passionate about working with people of all ages and backgrounds to help make sense of your worries and restore equilibrium and hope to your life.
Sometimes it's easier to confide in someone outside your personal circle who can walk alongside you as we figure this out together. I'm warm and approachable so please feel free to reach out if you think I can help you.

Practice description
I am a qualified and BACP-registered counsellor with a BA Hons and run Ridgeway Restorative Counselling Practice in Newport.
I have a special interest in bereavement support and feel that, as a society, we need to open up more discussion about death and the subsequent grief that ensues. I have in-depth experience of working with the bereaved both from my work with Cruse Bereavement Care and a bereavement support group I have co-ordinated for a number of years. I understand a significant loss is not something one 'gets over' but is more an unwelcome change we need to process and learn to live with, eventually creating a life with new meaning.
I am equally passionate about gender identity and dysphoria issues and am a strong LGBTQ+ ally. I believe too many of our young people, particularly, have been subjected to medical waiting lists that are unacceptable which have caused huge distress. I can offer clients a safe, non-judgemental space to explore any issues that may be troubling them and am also kink and poly friendly. I hold an advanced DBS clearance certificate.
Other areas I cover include:
- Panic Disorder
- OCD/phobias
- Mens' mental health
- Narcissistic/sexual abuse
- Family relationships (not couples)
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Miscarriage/infertility/infant loss
- Inner child work
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Gender identity/LGBTQ+ issues
- Suicide prevention
- Self-harm recovery
